Capabilities/Tools
Candent Technologies has a complete suite of tools for the design and analysis
of any gas turbine engine component, and the experience to recognize the when
the analysis is not leading in the correct direction. Major capabilities
available at Candent Technologies include;
- Engine Performance Analysis
Candent Technologies uses state of the art engine cycle analysis tools to
define engine performance at all potential conditions using the NASA Engine
Performance Program. Engine component off-design performance maps can
be synthesized using NASA preliminary aerodynamic analysis tools in order to
obtain excellent off-design performance predictions prior to the first build
of the component.
- Component Preliminary Design Synthesis
Candent Technologies has a complete suite of preliminary design synthesis
tools for preliminary design of rotating and static engine
aerodynamic components that were developed by NASA. These tools allow
an engine or component to be quickly defined using basic 2d design
parameters and provide excellent correlation to real world performance.
- Component Design
Candent Technologies employs a paperless design system using state of the
art UGS CAD design products. All design is done in three dimensional
models and many parts are created from castings directly produced from our
solid models.
- Structural Analysis
Structural analysis is performed using the Femap structural and dynamic
analysis program, in addition to a number of NASA developed tools for
analysis of rotating system dynamics and gear design.
- Computational Fluid Dynamics
Candent Technologies uses a variety of CFD tools to perform specific fluid
dynamic design tasks. In addition to NASA developed tools for blade to blade analysis
we employ state of the art tools for duct flow and loss determination.
- Heat Transfer and Secondary Flow
Extensive experience in heat transfer and secondary flow is aided by state
of the art tools for setting up flow grids and designing state of the art
secondary flow systems.
- Design Expertise
The analysis and design experts at Candent Technologies each have over 25
years of design and engine development experience. When it comes to
designing anything from a simple rotor, to a complete engine, this team has
done it before, multiple times. The capability to move quickly through
the design process, guided by experience with what works, is invaluable in
